Did I make a GIANT mistake in opting for a 2nd FOV ?

I know its early but my eye is very blurry and I have numerous floaters. I'm very confused and angry and upset about this. I just wanted to post this because I feel that if anyone can understand and help me its this board.

Collargen cells or blood cells post FOV ??

I had surgery November 4th and I know its early but I'm very worried about what I'm seeing. From what I've read my eye does not seem to have the typical "blood inflamation cells" that have been described by others.

I am worried that what I'm seeing are collargen cells and I'm really really wondering if I made a huge mistake in trying to get those residual floaters by having yet another FOV.

Hey everyone.

Well I wish I could say my third FOV went as smooth as my last two but so far it has not. Apparently as the infusion was being taken out it opened up some blood in my eye. My eye is now loaded with blood floaters which far outnumber the floaters I had before going in. My eye sight is very, very blurry right now.

Dr Mackool did however say that these blood floaters will eventually dissolve. I just got home a couple hours ago so I'm hoping slowly but...

Has anyone looked recently at the description of the word "floaters" in Wikipedia? Is it just me or is the description and the analysis becoming more and more skewed towards certain treatment options, namely laser vitreolysis?

Now, don't get me wrong, the text itself is informative but the narrative seems to have more than a passing ressemblance to the website of certain doctors. Given that there are clearly differents schools of thought on the appropriate treatment...

I know comments such as the one I am about to make have been made before on this board, and unfortunately it is usually met with hostility and rejectionism. I hope mine aren't.

I have had floaters for about 9 months. They are many and pretty big, especially in the right eye. In the right eye I have what looks like a large Broccoi stalk (some of you may have heard me describe it as such before), with hairs and strads hanging off of it, as well as other small pieces of debris....

Synchrony IOL becoming available in Europe!

This is great news for floater sufferers, since down the road after FOV we are more than likely to have cataracts. But the Synchrony IOL is the best accomodative IOL developed so far--providing pretty decent accomodation. Allowing cataract patients to read without glasses, and avoiding the low contrast, inadequate night vision problems of multifocal IOLs. Synchrony is supposed to be available in the US in a year or two as well. This is a great complement to a FOV.

Hi. It looks like my options are Dr Sciff in NYC, DRs Sebag and Hanscom in Cal. Has anyone had or know of any first-hand experience with any of these doctors as far as being sympathetic to floater sufferers?? I am leaning toward Sciff because he is very close to me but does anyone know how many FOVs he has done or any other details? Thanks.

Rare Earth Intraocular Magnet

This is some kind of magnet used in optical surgery .. I saw it on the Bascom Palmer Institute site. They have the most experience in Vitreo surgery and techniques in the US. Anyone know more about this magnet? Dont know how it works but perhaps with a slightly magnetic fluid introduced into the Vitreous thru the bloodstream...If anyone who works at Palmer sees this,maybe they could elaborate...any info appreciated..

Admin. I have followed this info blog for over a year now, and have decided that the time has come for me to have a FOV, problem is finding a qualified Doctor to do the operation. Perhaps having a dedicated page or link that has a list of doctors and locations that currently perform the FOV procedure would help those of us who come here for information to find these doctor's whom performs this type of operation. My choice originally was going to be Dr. Mackool but I hear he is not...
