It's definitly not a cointoss. A vitrectomy is a basic surgery for an eyesurgeon. It's been done a lot for more severe kind of eyeproblems.
I talked to Dr Stalmans about that. He did not want te be famous as the Floater Doctor cause he can do much more than only remove floaters.
From all the people I talked to (about 9) who were treated for floaters is completely floaterfree and 1 had shimmering and that went away after a while. I did two eyes within 1 year. That they both are fine is not luck but the quality of the people who did the surgery.
It's all scary because it is your eyes we talk about, but when you see all the other people in the hospital who had more severe troubles with their eyes I realy thought I was lucky that I only came there to have my floaters removec. By the way.....there were alse a lot of people at the time who got there floaters removed and had also no problems. From the 9 people I talked about none have developed cataract.
The reason why a lot of people are scared is because if something is going wrong....you post it. But if all is good you have no reason to come on this board again because you enjoying life again. One thing was important though.....take enough rest!! Don't cary heavy things cause they give pressure on the eye when it's still healing. I train Jiiu Jitsu en Kickboxing and from time to time I get hit on my eye, but still no troubles....they are as good as always. I'm a realist. I thought I can complain the next 5 years about my floaters here on this board and wait until some pill comes who fixes it. But that won't happen. Or I stop complaining and do something about after intensive research. After that I concluded that I only want to have it done by Dr Stalmans. He understands what you go through all the way.

When asking if I had the same "problems" as poor Pedro. Well yes. My first eye went realy well and my eye pressure was ok and I saw fireworks....stars (from lasering the rentina) only my eyepressure was 15 mmh after the operation and was ok cause it normaly is between 10 and 21. The second time around it was 3mmhg so way to low. I stayed a day longer cause I live in the Netherlands so it's an easy drive for me and there were enough rooms available in the hospital ;-) They fixed it and a day later it was 5mmhg and just to make sure they asked if I could stay a day longer...so I did that also and than it was 7mmhg. When I came back after 2 weeks it was 13mmhg so it was fine. Al the questions Pedro asked I did also with my first eye cause I did not know what to expect. I also had yellow vision, blur vision, a lot of inflamation cells (even after 3 months some little ones) but it all went away. So it's understandeble that does things make you worry, but everbody almost has the same experience.
Got to go training now....if you have questions....just ask!
