I went for my check up and Dr Stalmans said my shimmering light effect was the lasering of the retina and this is part of the healing process. He understood the symptons and told me other patients have experienced this and it goes in time (could be months). No other problems. The fact I received this news has gave me a great lift.

I used the word shimmering not only as it was a term I have read on this board but also the simplest way I can describe it. To the very far left of my operated eye I am slightly aware of the edge of my vision. Imagine heat rising of the road for example. Then when I close my eyes it's still there but like a torch light moving rapidly and I notice it from light to dark situations. Some people describe shimmering and flashing lights but it could be a different cause i.e the viterous pulling etc. Fortunatley I was told I did not have this and it will go. Reading you experienced something similar and are now ok is the kind of news I want to hear right now!
