Many people have asked this very same question in the past and here is what the situation usually is in U.S. Most insurance companies consider floaters a "non threatening" vision problem, in other words, you are not going to go blind because you simply have floaters. That being said, the insurance company then treats their insurance coverage for floaters as an "elective surgery option" which means the patient pays for the surgery.
