I posted this a few weeks back when I got my first few floaters and since then they have gotten significantly worse. Got big clusters that hover and slosh around above and below my vision and plenty that whiz around and settle right where I'm looking. I guess they come in "batches", eh? I've got big clusters of snakey ones like the infamous Wikipedia picture that bob around a lot and most of them have darker cluster embedded along them.Who knows. It is quite depressing and is making school difficult to say the least.

To make matters worse I went to see an ophthalmologist a week ago to make sure there wasn't anything serious going on with my eye. Of course there isn't, just normal old "benign" floaters. He responded by telling me that he has "MANY" more floaters than I do and that he lives with them just fine. I do not think he could see all of my floaters. The ones he described as looking the worst to him are ones that bother me least! Is it possible that he couldn't see all the ones I've got?

I asked him about possible surgery and he seemed shocked that I thought it was even an option. When I described this forum and told him that people on here get vitrectomy done for floaters he told me something I didn't quite understand-- that sometimes a doctor will operate but only if it's a very bad degenerative vitreous condition that would cause hundreds of floaters. I'm not sure exactly how he described it but it is not something I have heard of. Anyway, thanks to this board I certainly expected this reaction! "Sure, it may be bad enough to make you miserable, but it certainly isn't bad enough to OPERATE on!" Ohhh boy. image

In any case there's certainly no way I could do anything about it til at least June.Otherwise I'd miss too much school. On the bright side I am dealing a bit better with them mentally than I was at first but only time will tell. I've gotta get through to summer and then decide where to go from there.
