Hi floatergasted, thanks for sharing the story. It sounds like you notice or not your floater in some situation more (e.g. stress like you say). I have multiple questions for you.
Can you tell if they are the same floaters appearing and disappearing? Can you recognize the same one? (I personally can recognize some of my floaters having the same shape and being often there).
I have personally noticed that when I close eye and let just a small opening (very small, maybe the right word is squint but I am not sure of a word for doing this), to the point where I could see my eyelash in all my vertical vision. Well when I do this, I can see my floaters differently. For example I can see them as a lot of dot connected together... and I can also for some floaters see a BUNCH of dot AROUND them (and I mean a lot of dot and way wider than the "line floater" itself). But all this to say that when I do this, I often see my floaters as whole, even some part I don't notice in some situation. It is easier to do this when there is a LOT of light (like when outside in sunlight). While I do not have to do this to see my floaters and be annoyed... when I do this, I can analyze them more.
Some people told me that they have to "concentrate" to see their floaters. Maybe their floaters properties (e.g. position in the eye, size, etc.) can only be seen when doing this.
But I would like to know if for some reason, your floaters are always there, but you just don't see them the same way through the time. Personally, my situation has improved in latests month. I still feel ANNOYED by floaters on a DAILY BASIS. But they have changed and for better and I wish it will continue to "improve" (might be a totally random factor). But I can still recognize the same shape... but they really are not the same as some months ago (and it is not just my brain ignoring them, they really appear different in size, opacity, etc.).
I hope some "luck factor" will make them disappear, or at least be unnoticeable.
----
Well all this said, my other question for you is for your dad if you can talk to him about it. He said that it dissapeared? Can you validate with him if he can notice them (like on a white wall or looking at the sky). If he cannot see them in these conditions... can you can him if he can see them if he concentrate or close his eyes like I described.
If he does, that would mean the floaters are still there, but because either of his condition, or the properties of his floaters, he doesn't really "see" them.
(it mights mean that they moved in his eye to the point they cannot be noticed at all or hardly noticed)
I would really like to know if for your dads, they really disappeared.
It is my personal hope that mine will disappear... and not in 40 years!
Well it would really be useful if you can validate deeply what was the situation with your father. A lot of people doesn't believe people when they say they can disappear, but if your dad is a 100% successful or even 99% (e.g. he needs to concentrate to see them), then it could give some hope!
