Floatergasted... Well, Wikipedia is "a little" limited in this theme. ;-)

First, PVD and Floaters.
PVD CAN but not always produce a big ammount of floaters.
Big ammount of floaters CAN but not always are produced by a PVD.

Wikipedia, as 99,99% of oftalmologists only are interested in floaters when there are a lot new, because "it could" be a "dangerous" PVD, so the retina could be in danger.

I have read that the 75% of the people over 65 has had a PVD. In most cases they have not noted, or the effects were low (as our fathers) and dissapear in one year or two. When it happens, they don't have vitreous, so there is not floaters...

That's the reason for vitrectomies, quit the vitreous and with it, all the floaters.
