MrFloater,

As for Bioptron and Sun, who know, it is a good question, but I would have to analyze, think and see if there is link between Bioptron and Sunlight.

Mercola.com seems to believe Sun is really good for us (but I would say that he does not always emphasize on the moderation part, but he does on some text I read). He also talk about different kind of UV and I think he said some are bad (start and end of the day UV I believe are less better, but verify) and some are very good (middle of the day I think). That is all I remember in overview (I am good with details, but when there is a lot of information, I tend/choose to remember only thing in overview to do logic links and be able to go deeper if needed, hehe).

As for the link between light sensitivity, it is possible, all I can say is that there was multiple problems with my eyes before the appearance of these floaters, I was even complaining to my friend (2-3 weeks before) while playing badminton with him that I was not feeling well with my eyes. My body probably gave me signal something was changing. Some people complain for anything, but often when I do, there is a problem that arise after. I should be more of the freak type who do not take chance when there is a signal. ;-)

I think it is interesting that we both experienced this light sensitivity not long before the floaters. It is still important, but I understand, you want to know about the light.

(Who know, problems -> problem 2 -> light sensitivity -> the source of the problems of light sensitivity + [sun]light -> floaters ... e.g. if we avoided light at that time like our body told us, maybe floaters would not be created. I exaggerate, but still a possibility...)

I believe the light can "nourish" (feed) the eye some way. I think Mercola.com also claims this, but once again we will have to verify where this come from and what it does exactly. The sun is necessary for a lot of thing in life.

Also another thing I had to say about the Sun... I believe the Bates Method is strongly based on light sensitivity, because the eye tends to strain when there is a lot of light (maybe with a reason) (note: I noticed my eyes were not squinting as much as before with light when I had my problem, I was wondering why and did not liked it). However, maybe if we train our eye to react a relax way with light, that it will strain less and then the eyes will be more relaxed, and thing usually go better when they are relax. ;-)

// Well personally I sometime force myself to deal with sunlight, and fortunately, light sensitivity diminished a lot quite fast... some people it does not and they have to deal with light sensitivity like hell for years. Heck, it was hurting my eyes to go shop at supermarket because of the light are there -- and I know of other people that the same happen at supermarket. But now it doesn't hurt my eyes (or almost not if it does).

About Mikey Psycho comments... well there could be physical explanation. I believe I discussed in a past thread about how the light enter the eyes. Notice that if there is less light, your pupil will dilate to let enter more light, and vice versa. Maybe the fact that there is a lot of light, there is less shadow coming from the floaters, etc. --- that is a beginning for the physical part.

As for the psychological part, there is a lot of talk about Sunny vs. Rainy day. Also Winter vs. Summer. Etc. Personally, I do not believe I am the kind of person to be sad because it is Winter or a Rainy day. I can still have fun anyway! ;-) But that can influence a lot of people. Some people have even emitted that hypothesis like when I saw my floaters really worse in Winter... but the winter before I had no problem at all with floaters (see I was not even seeing them, unless like I said, I was seeing some once in really rare time, and it was lasting some seconds). The problems was the floaters were really big, and the snow around is all white, and you get it... it creates a floaters attack!

// However, that aside, I can say that with my intestinal problems, that some rainy day, I felt worst (maybe the humidity, etc.) -- and it was physically worse, like I want to go to toilet more, etc. So weather can influence stuff physically I believe... but I do not know if I ever said something about weather and floaters aside for sunny day, cloudy day and my feeling. There is probably an explanation (not the same color, light intensity, etc.).

Well who know all influence it has, I think it can be a part of the floater illusion formula. Like if I am inside, and there is a lot of white wall, lot of glare on wall, it will be worse.

Personally thing "improved" (by luck maybe like I said) once in a while. I can honestly say that the symptoms changed like 2-3 months after the beginning, then 3-4 months after there was a real major improvement (fortunately, because at beginning of the floaters I thought it would be really hard, and it was for the beginning, but something changed a specific weeks and I cannot say exactly what caused the change, maybe the fact I was moving a lot, maybe other thing, maybe lucks, etc.) --- but who know if magically they won't get back or move around, etc.

And I do not think it is my brain that ignore them, because I still see a lot of them with the exact same shape. They just changed. And it is not like I am getting "used", they really changed (maybe the illusion faded a bit, etc.). At least, I do not believe the reason is this (mental suppression of floaters or getting used), I really believe the floaters effect changed in nature. However, improvement is there in practice, but they are still quite annoying. But I hope I will be one of those that they go away after 2 years.

As for alternative treatment. I will say something more deep about this.

Try to get as much healthy as possible. That mean move, eat well, sleep well, try to stay positive mentally (even thought it is hard when something make you feel uncomfortable constantly)... does all the thing that is good. We all have our little other problems. Some might be as annoying as floaters, but some not (e.g. a knee injury that bug you a little). But fix it. It might not get rid of floaters, but will improve your situation.

Getting the body healthy should helps (unless there is something about floaters we do not understand!).

AND IF YOU EVER CHOOSE TO GET A SURGERY, I strongly believe an healthy body will be way more equipped to support the surgery and get back on track. I once had an intestinal surgery and I was quite healthy at that time. I did get back living a very active life and some people were impressed (comparing to other similar situation they saw or lived) seeing how I was living after such a small time after the surgery!

For alternative treatments thought, still be on your guard to not inject in your body anything that would be dangerous. Floaters or not. Lot of people (doctors and NON-doctors) does error or say thing without knowing or understanding (and it is hard to really understand some stuff sometime, being an "expert" doesn't mean you get 100% in all your exam or in life, it is far from it in reality).

Like I heard people say that berries-kind supplement might helps macula problems, but won't help floaters. But I heard some people that took them for long time and said their floaters disappeared. So who know if there is any link. If it helps the eyes... and if it takes that long... it might not have been proven for floaters, but it mights help or something help might help.

For example probiotics when you have stomach aches. They can help. But it is only getting very popular recently.

Some people also tried thing (like kombucha tea), and they said their floaters have not disappeared but it helped other problems!

Some people here also said their night vision really improved after taken supplement, etc. (have you said that MrFloater? I think you were in the conversation I read about this)... If my [night] vision improve, I sure won't ditch it! (actually anything that can improves my eyes, I will consider!)

Well you get the idea, some of these solutions can have positive side effects. For myself I still hope something or time will help my situation. It almost make one years, but it only make one years and I am seeing improvement. I will be so happy if in one more year they are gone. YES!!! ;-) (hope of the foolish one).

The only thing that will goes against what I said there in my hypothesis for a solution... would be the theory that floaters can change when your eyes is in some kind of non-stable state (e.g. things are changing randomly, floaters included). So if you bet that this is the case and when your eyes change that your floaters might move, etc. -- well get back into that [unhealthy] situation (eye infections, light sensitivity, etc.) and just shake your head, then get back healthy and pray that your floaters changed or moved in the meanwhile and that now you won't see them. Then never get back into that situation!!! That might sound crazy, but that is one of the possible solutions in my book! ;-) (maybe someone who understand it might contredict this, but still even experts say they can move, sinks to bottom, etc. -- so maybe there is situation where this will happen! Beside normal liquifaction of the vitreous... please keep my vitreous gelly!!! :P)

Note: because it was mentioned by MrFloater, I've never wear glasses/contact to correct my view, but I wanted to get glasses like 10 years ago to see better from far and I might get some sooner or later in case I need to go at theater or anywhere I need to see from far, but I try to stay glasses free mostly. ;-)

I was gonna give my reply later, or later, now you pay because I chose to not procrastinate... hehe hope what I said make you think positively. ;-) At least we think and try to find interesting hypothesis. Maybe later we will understand the problem better (anyone here thought about studying the full eye anatomy, understand the chemistry of the problem, etc. ??? Easier to say than do it, hehe...).
