Hey guys - I'm back with my weekly update. I have been on the silicium for approximately one week now and I'm boosting high dosages - approximately 240 mg per day and I'm also taking approximately 350 mg magnesium, major dosages of blueberry (I can provide dosages if anybody wants to know later). I'm also taking omega 3 and something called MSN with a combination of silicium. That's at least 10 pills per day. I've been in contact with some people with very good experience in these areas and there shouldn't be any problem for kidneystones unless continuing with this for "years" as they said. I haven't experienced any problems with my kidneys so far and I've also been drinking a lot of 40 %alcohol every friday and saturday.
I mentioned in my previous post I think I noticed a change in the let's say "texture" of the floaters or colors if you will. The floaters are still there and as bothersome as they have always been but as someone mentioned in another post what I think has happened is that the smallest floaters have become somewhat more transparent or lighter. They bother me less at the moment and wether this still is a placebo effect or weather conditions I cannot confirm. What I can say though is that I haven't been sleeping well for many days and I also forgot to take my contactlenses out the other day and it was a very foggy day. Still when I went out in the fog it felt like one of my "best" floater days ever which to me was an amazing and very confusing experience. I still have the strings and floaters and everything but if I were to "visually" try to explain what has happened I think I read somewhere there is something called "asteroid bodies" on Dr. Kharikhoffs webpage and if I didn't misunderstand what that was it's all the tiniest floaters that float around in the eye and they are usually many. The tiniest floaters which was (and is) a real nuisance feel like they have become a little bit lighter and as I otherwise have very good and sharp vision when correcting with lenses / glasses I can notice that either they have become lighter or either they bother me less.
This leaves me with three or more theories:
Let it not be unsaid that I am STILL seeing my usual big floaters and my strings. But I have a bunch of small / medium sized floaters that on a day to day bases literary are killing me when driving and looking around. It is these floaters that may or may not have been affected.
1) Some of my smallest floaters have become a little bit lighter / transparent which gives me the experience of maybe a 2-5 % improvement which in terms of floatersuffering is still considered for me a change. (Based on the fact that nothing has even caused a 0.01% change). It's true I feel that they have become more transparent / lighter - at least that's what I think at the moment. It can all change if I have a bad day tomorrow. We'll have to see again, this is just a current status update.
2) The floaters are there as they always have been - there has been no change but I am having an imaginary placebo-effect because of the pills I'm taking and I force myself to believe that there has been an improvement. This combined with weatherconditions / sleeping and less stress is making me believe I'm less bothered by the floaters.
3) The pills I'm taking are in another way affecting my eyes making them less sensitive or even "stronger" which makes me "look through" the floaters in another way focusing more on the environment and therefor filtering out the smallest floaters more.
4) Because of the silicium and the hope and will to make it "work" for me I am trying so HARD not to focus on my floaters I am doing everything possible not to focus on them and look at them. And I am really doing this - I am forcing myself to look past them, I pretend Im driving in a car with a dirty windshield and I have to look beyond the floaters which sometimes is really hard when they line up in front of my central vision and I have to wobble my eyes up and down to remove them from being just in my central vision dimming what I see. When they line up in front of my eyes these days though they tend to "dim" my vision a little less than before the silicium, again, this can be a placebo-effect (? - input anyone).
I cannot give a definitive result yet because not enough time has passed and I will be able to give a definite evaulation the more times goes and as soon as there will be snow here in Sweden I will have the perfect opportunity to compare with before. Weather conditions right now are pretty "favourable" for floaters and I cannot make a good decision. I'll look up to the sky later this week and try to see if I find any changes - only for the sake of evaluating the pills. I never look up to the sky generally - I hate that, it reminds my brain of my floaters and I start focusing on them way more and it takes a little time to try looking past them again when looking down.
Anybody have any theories?
