When you say "they improved a lot" I guess you mean that they have actually gotten worse, NOT better, correct?
Otherwise, I don´t think correlation you described seriously can mean that lutein is to blame. It´s a guessing game with not enough facts to solidify it, at least somewhat. It might be any other substance in Centrum multivitamin. In fact, I believe Centrum contains riboflavin (B2), as well.
Now, if you would start to take lutein by itself, and you notice that your floaters get worse, then we would have a solid ground to suspect lutein as the floaters causing factor.
This is, more or less, what happened to me with riboflavin. Riboflavin was in the multivitamin (Supradyn) I started taking at the time I got the floaters. I stopped and the floaters didn´t change untill I started taking B vitamin comlex containing riboflavin (B2) two weeks ago. Of course it could be any other B vitamin inside that complex. But, then again, there are these scientific studies, just read what they actually are saying:

Are there similar studies regarding lutein? I would really like to read all about it, if they have done anything similar.
Of course, I can be wrong, so you are free to draw your own conclusions, of course.
Good luck to you, Ron.
I too am waiting for a miracle. If I myself experience it, I will be reporting all about it right here in this thread. I promise you this. I think I can count on you doing the same.
Stay strong, there will be a cure for this.
