Art -- It's probably local because it was caused by the trauma and not by liquifying vitreous, which is what older people experience prior to a full PVD. If your floater swings around alot though, your vitreous may be liquifying and perhaps you will have a natural PVD earlier than most people.

When I see the new retina surgeon I'm going to next week, I will ask if I have full or partial PVD. Probably full due to my age, but you never know. The first retina surgeon I saw did not provide a very detailed report. I had to get his letter to even find out I had a PVD! If he says partial, I will find out how he induces a full PVD and let you know. I know inducing PVD raises the risk, but perhaps his technique is less risky somehow. This is assuming he does FOV. I found his name on this board but I've never heard of anyone who has had FOV with this doctor. I may be planning a trip to Phoenix soon to see Dr. Sipperly if the consultation with the new doctor doesn't go well.
