95-98% success for floaters?  Where did you get your information?

I don't know exactly where that number comes from but in the following article 88% of patients who underwent a vitrectomy reported that they were satisfied with the results (10% dissatisfied, 2% don't know).

Schulz-Key S, Carlsson JO, Crafoord S. Longterm follow-up
of pars plana vitrectomy for vitreous floaters: complications,
outcomes and patient satisfaction. Acta Ophthalmol 2011;
89(2):159 –165.

Regardless of the numbers, I find suregeons' general per se attitude that vitrecomy is should never be considered disconcerting.

The best analog I can give you is a throat surgery for sleep apnea.  Moderate sleep apnea posses no real danger other than giving you a real crappy nights sleep, which in turn makes most people feel crummy the next day.  Even so, a lot of surgeons will at least present the option of surgery and explain the "experimental" results and complications associated with it.  Not so with floaters sufferers.
