It IS possible to ignore floaters.  It is just extremely hard for most people.  They are a lot easier to ignore when your mind is occupied with other things in life.  Since kmj2 is in college, he always doing something and keeping his mind busy all the time.  It is not hard for me to believe he is able to ignore them and simply not care about them.

When my mind is busy and occupied I hardly notice or care about my floaters at all.  The problem comes when I am trying to relax.  The floaters appear and tend to consume my thoughts.
