I think that it depends on your own state of mind. I had an FOV in one eye close to 3 years ago. The floaters in the other eye are as bad as the one I had the FOV in, but I found that once I had the FOV the floaters in my other eye did not bother me nearly as much. This is because I know that I can have them removed. Plus, with one clear eye, I don't feel like I am drowning in floaters like before. I can better ignore the floaters in my other eye knowing that I will get them removed one of these days. Of course, I totally understand those who cannot ignore the floaters. I just feel fortunate that I am able to not be so emotionally desperate about them. Don't get me wrong, they still get in the way, and I don't like the fog they create when I am trying to read on a computer screen, etc, but they don't make me upset like they used to.
