stringyeye, I tried to look in this thread but I could not find the info I am looking for.

Would you kindly share with us what steps you took pre-op and post-op to minimize the risks of infection?

1- did they take swab cultures for mrsa and vrsa from your skin?
2- did you use any anti-septics, antibiotics etc before your op?
3- what sort of anti-septic techniques your surgeon used to sterilize your eye, I guess iodine solution and?
4- did they measure your immune status by looking at t-cell count and other immune markers before undergoing surgery? what about esr and c-reactive protein?
5- you developed bleeding, were you on warfarin before surgery?
6- did you change/sterilize pillows/bed sheets/curtains?

I hope none of these questions are personal and I hope you will be willing to share most if not all of the info with us.

thanks
My god....im as scared as anyone else of an infection, but isnt the above just overkill? :\

Its absurd. When I had my FOV I was very aware of infection as I am taking immunosuppresants.

- Was I tested for MRSA....No
- Did I give MRSA a second thought .....No
- Did I question my surgeon on his anti infection regimen....No
- We're my immune stats measured...No
- Did I sterilize my pillows/bedsheets/clothes!!,...No (I did sterilize the house and contact points)

So what did I do,
- I washed my face with an antibacterial scrub...Thats it

The fact is, the hospital will tell you everything you need to do. Anything else is just peoples imagination running wild.

The most important things to do are to find a competent well regarded surgeon, and follow his post op instructions to the letter.
