As stringyeye mentioned, people who themselves or whose loved ones have experienced complications in past have a heightened sense of risk aversion. I do not think I am obsessive compulsive, you need to meet all criteria in the guidelines for being diagnosed as such by a psychiatrist. And a doctor who in his/her mind labels his/her patient OCD without properly diagnosing him and doing mental status exam on the patient is frankly a stupid doc. My relative who is a family physician did laugh off my questions and told me "it will be just fine." I think no one truly can understand and comprehend in totality what the patient feels.
I have increased risk of RD. I am aware of cases where infection post-op damaged patients. So I guess I just want to have peace of mind from my side so in case God forbid something happens to my eyes post-op then I do not lament and blame myself for the rest of my life.
I will not repeat the same mistake again. I will do whatever I can before I step into this abyss that is FOV. And of course it is not possible without
1- doing research, reading peer-reviewed research papers, talking to doctors
2- talking to kind patients like yourselves who take time to detail their surgical experiences for us.
@ Ken: if you do decide to get your MRSA status checked, keep in mind that the regimens used to give you negative cultures are not 100% effective. I read in some papers that there are different antibiotic regimens used to clear off the mrsa colonization from skin, and none of them are 100% effective. From top of my head, I remember one regimen gave clearance rates in about 75% of patients who took it. And also not all doctors recommend it. It is not a standardized treatment. Perhaps because antibiotics themselves increase rates of emergence of mrsa strains. Not sure if you wanted to know this but I thought it is your right to know that before you make a decision whether you want to know if you have mrsa colonization or not. And again, consult your doc. Internet advice is as good as no advice.
We saw it all pass by and you went by,
and I cant control anything.
When you said life cant be what you want ...
and I really want everything.
