If you go in telling them what you told us, I'm sure they will want to dilate your eyes for a thorough look. So, bring someone else that can drive and sunglasses, because it's quite difficult to drive with dilated eyes. I'm actually surprised they didn't dilate you when you told them that you had an onset of floaters....?? I would expect an eye care professional to at least take a good look. Yes, the retina photo map is good, but I would think they would trust their judgement over a picture taken.. My optometrist does both just to make sure everything is okay, but definitely wants to dilate to see themselves. Retina photo/opto map is just extra addon which lets you know that everything is definitely okay. Or, that is my opinion at least.
