Well, let's see. I have had them since I was 23 and I am 27 now. It started as 1 dangly thing up towards the top left portion of my left eye. It bothered me for a couple months, then I basically completely forgot about it. These are the floaters I am assuming most docs are referring to. Because they initially started out like that. Now, I have hundreds of swirly floaters whenever I move my eyes. The only one that really bothered me is this dark, dense dot floater. I see it everywhere and under all light conditions.

Noticeability..... well, I wish I had better news on this. I haven't really found anything that makes them less noticeable. Since they fly in my central vision, I see them every day, they never give up. Your brain eventually starts letting lose of the constant mental draw to the floaters, but it takes time. At first your brain seems to be drawn to them and won't let go. It thinks that there is a bug, or fly, or something moving, constantly.. and your brain wants to take action against that thing that is moving and make it stop. That doesn't happen, of course, so what eventually happens is that when you do see it, your brain won't think it's a threat and won't bother you "AS" much. Sure, you still see it, but it doesn't have the same effect as when you first get them.

So... unfortunately.. you will have to get used to seeing them, unless you get the surgery, but I am not ready for the risk of eye surgery yet. Getting a pair of prescription reading glasses really seemed to help me for work on the computer. I have 20/20 vision otherwise, so the only option I had for outside was a pair of sunglasses. Those choices are up to you. See what works for you best. Some people like them really dark. I like a really light pair of sunglasses since the sunlight seems to make them less visible to me. Mine are light tinted and greenish/blue.

If you go to my profile page, I have written in the past on a few things that have helped me and my experiences on these things. Hope that helps.

Cheers
