I'll need to ask my Doctor first if his ok with me publishing his name. I hope you can understand. I'm in the Seattle, USA area.

I'm 40 with excellent vision, so, giving up my lens would be extreme. I just don't want to see this stuff anymore, but, the realization is stepping in that maybe it just wasn't meant to be. My surgeon says that he just can’t reach it given my anatomy (without risking my lens). I don't see the frill in all light. It appears to be “smoothing” out. In fact, compared to my unoperated eye, my operated eye is very good. You would think that after going through 2 FOVs all this would be a distant memory (i.e. back to perfection). Unfortunately, at least for me, it’s just not the case.

I wasn’t going to consider anything other than a monofocal IOL because I want to reduce the chance of any visual abnormality. Although, I’m starting to get a little concerned as my surgeon doesn’t understand how I can see that far into my periphery (i.e. seeing my frill). I tend to wondering if that means I’m higher risk for seeing the edge of an IOL. I’ll be asking about that at my next appointment.

At this point looks like the next step is going to be just getting my other eye done and hoping for the best. Then, one day, when I do need cataract surgery, go for the combined operating to finally remove the rest of the stuff in there. I wish it could be different, but, I don’t really see any other alternatives for me.
