Thanks for the replies.

I went for the 8 day post-op exam this morning. Before I get to that, over the past few days, my eye has healed quite a lot. The air bubble steadily reduced in size and when I woke up on the 7th day, it was gone completely, as I was told to expect. The schlera on the left side (outside) of my eye is healing much more quickly than on the inside, which is still completely and deeply red. The schlera on the bottom is also quite red. However, it's no longer weeping as it did for the first few days. I expect it will be at least a few weeks before it's completely healed, at the current rate. Coincidently, on the 7th day, my eye felt much more "normal". As of today, my pupil is almost normal in size. It's still a bit larger, but not noticeably so as it was earlier. Initially, I didn't notice any floaters at all. Perhaps that was due to the size of the air bubble. However, on around the 4th day post op, I started to notice a few loose floaters. Later, I noticed an attached "fringe" on the top (which is really the bottom). I also noticed a small dark spot in the far upper left, which seems to be stationary. However, the massive debris cloud that I had pre-op is gone, so despite some imperfections, my vision is significantly better.

Prior to seeing the surgeon this morning, I was given dilation drops as well as numbing drops for the intraocular pressure measurement. I was very pleased to discover that the vision in my left eye is almost perfect. It's only one line behind my right eye, and I think that's related to my prescription changing, since my glasses are quite old. When the surgeon looked at the results, he said it is 20:20, and that he is very pleased with the progress. He examined my eye and noticed the floaters, including the fringe. He explained that the fringe is caused by some remaining vitreous immediately below the lens in a region that is difficult to access. He said it will eventually release and dissolve, along with the few other floaters. He said the spot is mostly likely from the laser, which he used to tack the retina all around my eye as a precaution. He said normally the spots aren't visible, but for some reason, my peripheral vision goes out that far. He said my brain will eventually disregard it and I will no longer notice it.

All in all, I'm very happy with the results so far. I will be returning for another exam in a month.

For others who have had the procedure, what was your experience with floaters, fringe and spots? For those of you who noticed flashing pre-op, did it stop right after the procedure or take some time to go away?

As for the procedure. I'm not sure of the exact details such as size of needles. I'm not aware of any stitches, so either I just can't see or feel them or there aren't any. I forgot to ask about them. (Out of sight, out of mind.) The surgeon used the laser and left the air bubble as a precaution. He said there were no concerns about retinal detachment. If someone wants to know the name of the surgeon, send me a PM.
