Nothing in life is a given, especially surgery. When it involves your eyes, that makes the stakes even higher. That said, the procedure is extremely safe and complications are few. However when they do happen, they can be devastating.

For me, it came down to if I could live the rest of my life under these conditions (horrific floaters in right eye that impacted my work, driving, and leisure time). Once I came to terms with the reality that I could not, there was no real thoughts of backing out.

It's not an easy decision to make, that's for sure. And everyone is different in their approach and risk/benefit assessment.
