All three of the surgeons I consulted after my PVDs with retinal tears which resulted in massive floaters told me the same thing: "See me in 6 months or a year and if you are still having the same level of difficulty with the floaters then we can discuss surgery."

I waited 3-1/2 years. If I get a good final outcome from the FOV I just had done in my right eye, I may just leave it at that and not do the left eye. I'll get used to it. When I had only one eye with floaters 3 years ago, I didn't like it but my other clear eye compensated and became dominant and I could have lived with that. But after the left eye PVD, tears and floaters, it was too much. But I still waited several more years.

Don't give up on surgery so quickly because of what appear to be a recent string of poor outcomes. Like others have said, these forums offer those with worries and poor outcomes a place to look for hope, to vent, etc. There is not much here to attract those who have had good outcomes. There have been many good outcomes here and probably many good outcomes we never hear about.

Put it off 6 months if you are concerned and see what takes place here and on other forums in terms of outcomes and then decide.
