wink0514,

Why is whattodozel doctor out of the question? I would think that the doctor learned from this mistake as not to repeat it in the future. I'm going to go with his doctor personally and I've already emailed him.

That's the problem with whattodozel's doctor. He is great at emailing before the surgery when he is trying to sell you on the idea of getting one. Basically stating a vitrectomy is no big deal and he hasn't had any major complications in 20 years. Then a patient, zel in this case, loses his vision in the operated eye and it is now a challenge to get a hold of him on the phone or email. When contact is made very little information is given and the whole situation is dismissed.

It's in these situations when someone's professionalism is shown. whattodozel's doctor has made a a tragic situation even worse. It sounds like the doctor is just running an assembly line. Get as many people on the operating table as possible. I don't trust him at all. I think he lied about his complication rates, I think he is dishonest about YAG treatments, and he is also dishonest about what we know about the vitreous. He was also dismissive of frill compliants.

A vitrectomy is not a magical surgery. Every retina surgeon can do one and many are now willing to do them for floaters. I would choose a doctor who will not dismiss me as a concern if I lose my friggin eyesight after surgery,
