Neal,

I had been prepared for some residual effects after reading of the experiences of some of the members of this forum after FOV, but each time when the bandages came off I had crystal clear vision. In my left eye, I saw what looked like "clear scars" - two thin transparent fixed lines in the far left quadrant, but they weren't annoying and vanished by the time the sutures healed. I'm guessing that maybe I saw some sort of optical illusion caused by a suture? I'm not sure, but they were gone by the time I got off the eye drops weeks later. I can't remember when I no longer noticed them. In my right eye, I have a black dot that looks about this big * that I spot occasionally to this day when looking at a distance. I asked if it was an inflammation cell during a follow up and was told it was probably a floater. I saw it more often right after surgery, but I rarely notice it and it isn't even the least bit annoying when I do. Dr. Mackool said that the vitreous in both eyes was like soup and very liquified. Maybe this and Mackool's skill as a surgeon combined with some much appreciated help from the Almighty yielded such a good result postop? I'm a Christian, but not much of a church-goer or Bible-thumper if you know what I mean? But, I can't be thankful enough for the result and for the support of those here who helped my summon the courage to do into surgery. What I can tell you, Neal, is that several FOV patients that preceded me and some who had surgeries around the same time did have some residual effects that really concerned them and I believe that most of these patients were happy to report that things cleared up in time. You may want to search the archives to find some posts that chronologue the healing process. My mother's residual floaters from her cataract surgery have mostly vanished after a month. I hope you soon see the world without any residuals or debris. I know it must be hard to be patient. Try to stay positive and know others had weeks or even months of recovery. Best!
