Thanks for sharing your experience regarding FOV surgery in Australia Don and I am glad it worked out for you. After 10 years of suffering with it you must have been thrilled! It is very encouraging to hear that this procedure is available here.

I believe that FOV surgery is much easier after a PVD (correct me if I am wrong guys and girls). I expect that most surgeon's would be reluctant to perform the operation on myself as I am -8.0 and -8.5 myopic and haven't had a PVD.

I would like to give this a few years and reassess the situation after that. If the floaters are still driving me mad and/or have gotten worse I will be glad for such treatment.

On Wednesday I am going back to see my Opthamologist (who incidentally is a board member of RANZCO along with the esteemed Dr Chang). It has been 6 weeks since the initial "storm" of floaters and since then they haven't gotten any worse. No flashes either which is good.

For peace of mind could you please email deejayspank@gmail.com with the details of FOV practitioners , much appreciated!
