It depends how short sighted you are and whether you see fov as a real possibility in the future. There is a treatment called 'clear lens extraction' which is basically putting a lens in your eye to correct your myopia..its the same procedure (iol) as used for people with cataracts,originally used in people with high myopia or anyone who didnt fancy laser, but more people seem to be opting for it now. As far as i know, its exactly the same procedure as that used for people with cataracts with the only difference being they are extracting a healthy (ie clear) lens rather than one with a cataract (cloudy).

Oxio, who posts here, has recently had this procedure.Why it could be good if you do plan to have a fov is, it eliminates risk of cataracts (because the lens is artifical) and also to an extent, residual floaters because if a patient has an iol rather than there own lens,and so no risk of cataracts, the surgeon can remove more of the vitreous. someone else here cna probably explain a bit better than me!
