Hello all,
I got my first noticeable floaters about 3 months ago and had no idea what was happening with my eyes, I had never even heard of an eye floater. They have gotten slightly worse over time, but thankfully, I currently do not have any prominent opacities that sit directly in my line of sight. I do however have the snow globe effect when moving my eyes up and down, or left to right. The swirl that is created is still not technically visually obstructive, but definitely distracting and annoying as hell. I can see this occur in most situations, sometimes the dark blobs appear as clear streaks that disrupt whatever light source I happen to be looking at.
I've had the typical round of exams and heard the typical round of explanations (syneresis in my case) and of course, the ultimate solution - get used to it because it's not going away! Unfortunately something that impacts my sight so significantly at this point is not easily dismissed in my mind.
What I'm wondering is how your floaters "are", and why they bother you? Did they come all at once, or gradually over years? Are they numerous? When is a good time to start considering FOV? When your vision is significantly obstructed or impacted by floaters constantly fixed in your direct line of sight? When you begin seeing floaters all the time everywhere? Has it taken years or months for your situations to become intolerable?
I feel like I could do an FOV right now because I'm so frustrated by what is happening in my eyes and the prospect that things will not improve. I want to begin putting myself in the mindset that something can be done if and when the time comes. I'm 32 years old and have too much life left to live and I don't want to do it behind a veil of floaters and blobs.
I've found a lot of useful information on this board and I thank you all for sharing and putting together such a great resource.
Thanks much,
Joe
