Hello Everyone,
I recently went and saw Dr. Sipperley. The office is nice and the wait was a little long, but I guess that what you get for going to see a good Dr. The Tech brought me to the first room where they checked my eye pressure, dilated and I read my letters. I was then taken to a room to have my OCT done. Following this I went to another waiting room to wait for the Dr. From the point of seeing the tech to seeing the Dr. was relatively fast. I was then brought into see the Dr. He looked into my eye and applied pressure to my eye to try and see the floaters. He said from my OCT that he would see my floaters and thought I would be a good candidate. He told me he would perform the procedure for 30 minutes and I believe he uses 25 gauge instruments. He said he would get as close to the retina as possible and that there is a good percentage of removing all of the floaters. He said he didn't want to do multiple surgeries. He seemed fairly confident. He said he hasn't had any complications, but one, that was fixed. I believe he said he performed thousands of Vitrectomies and quite a few FOVs. He explained to me, with an eye model, how the eye worked and what are the different levels of the eye. I believe he told me that the eye insertions will close on its own, after the surgery, and that there will be no air bubbles or stitches. I also asked about cataracts and he said it may be down the line and seemed as if you are younger and healthy you are less likely to get them. While this was going on there was another person in the room, possibly a student or fellow. From the many and I mean many Drs. I saw, he may be a great candidate. Sorry If this was all over the place, if I remember anything Ill add it. I am in contact with the Dr. so if anyone has any questions you would like me to ask him or things you want clarified or you think I may need to know ask me.
Thank You
