Well, I talked to my surgeon last night, and he said the debris could be inflammation cells, but I am more inclined to think that it's leftover freefloating vitreous like ionsa's surgeon said.My surgeon said he would use kenalog if I want, but he doesn't really think he needs it. As we all know, there's a risk associated with the kenalog (possible allergic reaction). Dr. Sipperley says the kenalog helps prevent infection, but it is not an antibiotic, it is actually a steroid. So, I am on the fence about him using kenalog. I will ask him before surgery how he detects what could be little pieces of vitreous floating around. I know he's in there with a microscope, so perhaps it's not hard to detect these things even without kenalog. He said he also puts a little steroid in the BSS infusion, so maybe that helps reduce the inflammation cell debris. He did say that he just saw Doris in the office and that her debris is subsiding.
