I had a vitrectomy+cataract surgery on each eye at age 19, and am now 24. At the time all floaters had been removed but I now have 1 floater in each eye, and they are in the corner of my eyes so they never reach my central vision. It is is a little bit annoying but nowhere near how it used to be. I used to have 30-40 floaters per eye. Back when my surgeon performed the surgery he told me I may see some floaters in the future and I guess that time is now. He also said he would be willing to do the surgery again on each eye to wipe them out again, and I may do that in the coming years, but don't have 10k laying around right now to do it lol. I had single vision IOL's put in which made my distance vision perfect but I have astigmatism which means I still use glasses. I see that new Toric IOL's were recently released which correct astigmatism and I think they also adjust for close and far vision, and I am wondering if I can have him remove my current IOL's and put in Torics so that I don't need glasses anymore??? Anybody have any idea?
Anyway, just wanted to give everybody the update. There have been no complications, and I am sure within a few weeks or months I will not notice my two floaters. I have asked many friends and everyone around my age seems to have quite a few floaters, probably way more than me, so I probably should not complain. I highly recommend the surgery, definitely life changing. You just need to find a surgeon you trust and understand that immediately your vision will be perfect, but just like all things in life perfection doesn't last.
