Hello,
I am a medical student and personally suffer from eye floaters as well. At the moment they are mild but nonetheless i understand the pain and depression it causes to millions of people all over the world. So, i have been thinking about some possible cures which can be researched upon. I am personally going to research on some of them after few years.
Here are some possible ways which i think may cure the floaters in future:
1. Using a charged needle or small insertion into the eye to attract the protien clumps.
2. Inserting an enzyme such as collagenase which targets only the eye floaters.
3. Inserting a enzyme or any other substance which makes the floater sticky in nature so that it sticks to the choroid surface of the eye.
4. Inserting a heavier particle/liquid inside the eye to keep the floaters in one place below the field of vision.
5. Developing a eye glass using the technology that boeing have used in their latest dreamliner 787. What they have done is that the window shades have been removed and instead there's a button which on pressing darkens the glass. The darkness can be controlled by the user so using that in eye glasses may allow all floater sufferers to adjust darkness according to that.
6.Adding a substance inside the eye which forms a coating over protien clumps thus reducing shadow formattion.
At the moment i have only these ways on which i can work on, but it is quite likely that many are impossible but we gotta make an attempt if we wanna find a way.
And, if any doctors are listening, please be a little more sympathetic with floater sufferers and don't just tell them it's a benign issue and will go away by itself. If doctor community is serious abt the issue the cure will be found much more quickly.
All of you are welcome to criticize or encourage the ways i have suggested.
