I had an FOV in St. Louis, Missouri today. I'm not sure if the Dr. would want me saying their name on the internet or not so I will just keep it anonymous for now. This has been a long process. The floaters started on April 15th of 2012 and I have tried to cope with them for over a year. As we all know, coping just isn't a solution.
I am in medical school, and I didn't want to go through another school year dealing with this problem so I finally bucked up and scheduled the vitrectomy.
My surgery was scheduled for 12:30 pm, and I was very anxious and nervous going into it. The surgery itself was not bad at all, the anticipation and second-guessing is the worst. First they gave me dilating and numbing drops, then put me under to numb my eye. I awoke a little bit after the surgery started, and was in a "twilight zone" for most of the surgery.
There is no pain whatsoever right now. I have an eye patch and eye guard over my eye. It comes off tomorrow morning at 9 am. I will keep you all updated on how everything goes.
