Hello everyone,
I decided to register and post because despite doing extensive reading on this I'd like someone's advice, nothing online or here exactly answers my issue and I'm becoming pretty concerned
I am 28 and very nearsighted, -7 dioptres, however it has been like that for years and if my vision has degenerated since my last visit to an eye doctor which was admittedly years ago it only worsened little.
However there are eye floaters.
I had them for years now, even as a kid, but only now do they cause me concern. These past two-three years I've been seeing the black wormlike ones and at first I paid no attention because they came and go. Only this year I started being interested in this more but still there were months when I paid little attention to it.
This past week I had a lot of work to do - I work at the computer so I'm staring at the screen non stop, my eyes feel quite tired. And new floaters have appeared. At first it was two or three annoying ones that would float through my field of vision, especially if the background is white. Over the weekend I drank moderate to high amounts of alcohol and I swear it intensifies them.
In a lit room I only see them with rapid eye movements where two or three veer through my field of vision, I can also do a sort of rotating movement with the eyeball and often they shift and I don't see them. However recently I randomly looked at the sky during the day and it curdled my blood - there's quite a lot of them floating around in the eyeball. Definitely over a dozen. Now for the past couple of days I'm starting to obsess about it having read about retinal detachment and such. I don't think I have the flashes but then I don't know how intensive are they supposed to be? Is it possible not to notice them or only notice very subtle ones? The only sort of thing remotely like a very noticeable flash is a sort of wandering light in the sides of my vision that happens during a sudden light change, like when I shut off the computer and go to sleep, it looks like a little ball of light going up and down. It only happens for a few seconds and goes away. Its only if my eyes are closed. Now those two or three annoying ones I'm pretty sure only showed up this past week but who knows how many of the other ones visible against the sky only were there before?
It takes a long time to see an eye specialist in my country - I definitely will but it can take up to two months. I have no actual vision troubles, no obscuring, clouding, anything just these little black threads shifting and flowing.
Is it possible for them to develop only during periods of malnutrition, eye strain, dietary deficiencies caused by alcohol?
Sorry for the length of the post but I just wanted to put everything out there
